Rescue Me ID: 17-01-10-00026Hank (male)

Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a lick. At 4 - 5 years old and 19 lbs (such a perfect age and size - old enough to have great manners but young enough to have many, many years to come along with his family on great adventures). Hank is every bit the engaging guy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who is not unnecessarily vocal - he expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses. Hank's Texas foster mom had the following to say about this very sweet guy: Hank Williams, Jr (or Hank to us) is 4 - 5 yrs old and 19 lbs. While ... (Read More)Hank has never been around very small children, he's such a sweet-tempered and lovely dog, I know he would be awesome with children. There couldn't be a better choice of dogs to teach a young child the wonders of a doggy best friend. Hank is patient, kind and very loyal to his family. It took no time at all for my entire family to fall in love with sweet 'Hankie'. Hank is both house and crate trained. He's very clean about himself and very respectful of his home. Hank is currently living with my dog who is the same size as himself. They're great together and have a blast. Both have a ton of fun with cats..never hurting them but enjoying the fun of the chase. Hank is filled with positive energy and is a true lover of life. He loves to jog with his person, go on long walks, car rides (so much fun for Hank!), playing catch (sometimes he gets so excited that he forgets to bring the ball back), and at the end of the day sleeping with his owner is nirvana for dear Hankie. He does need a bit of work with carrying out commands but seems to understand everything you say to him. Hank has made so much progress, it's clear that he's super-smart and loves to please those that are close to him. At this early point in Hank's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Hank to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like him to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. Right now, Hank is a virtually blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. Hank is a lightly-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and a commitment to great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and shiny. Hank will arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/13/17. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and silly Terrier, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-04-00083Radar (male)

Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Radar is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is...with one blue and one copper colored eye (and for all the world looking like he's wearing eyeliner)..he's absolutely one of the most adorable guys around. At 12 - 18 months old and 11 lbs, Radar is a perfect size and weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large and active enough to love long walks while socializing with neighbors. Radar is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same ... (Read More)time he is a happy and well-behaved pup (once used to his environment) who is not unnecessarily vocal. He's more likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this early point in Radar's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Radar to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. Radar is an incredibly cute guy that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wiggle and a kiss. What is clear in this photo is how truly beautiful this dog is...with one blue and one copper colored eye (and for all the world it looks like he's wearing eyeliner)..he's absolutely one of the most adorable guys around. Right now, Radar is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Radar is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Radar is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Radar's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to continue his positive attitude about the world. Radar will be fully vetted and neutered when he arrives in Boulder to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth in dogs. Radar is currently in a foster home in Colorado. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this adorable ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-24-00093Sammy (male)

Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sammy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. At 10 months old and 19 lbs (anticipated to weigh about 21 lbs when full-grown) Sammy is every bit the puppy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who was picked from a shelter population of about 400 dogs for his great temperament. Attached to his kennel card was the following from shelter personnel: You will absolutely fall in love Sammy. He's as sweet as can be, loves to be petted and adores all attention. This small pup will make you happy in so many ways. He's a ton of fun and loves people! ... (Read More)He's nice and calm and loves getting treats. This handsome boy prefers to do his business outside. He would be a holiday gift to any family..loves children! At this early point in Sammy's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine (and most likely cats as well). We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Sammy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Sammy to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Sammy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. We think Sammy would do great with dog-crazy kids who would love a dog with a wonderful spirit to be their best friend. These kids would also have to be very gentle and loving to nurture Sammy's great temperament and love of people. We'd also like an active family who will include Sammy in their activities. He is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - Sammy would love nothing more than long walks or hikes, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace..he would be the hit of the office!. Sammy is so young that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Sammy's new family has to have the motivation and energy for a young pup...he requires behavioral guidance and tons of love to continue his very positive attitude about the world. We feel that Sammy is a very special guy and is a gift to any family. Anyone who meets him immediately becomes aware of his warmth and sweet/calm ways. Sammy has a walk that resembles a jig..upon further investigation by a vet, we found that in his puppy days he broke his pelvis (no doubt hit by a car). We were assured that this break has since healed and Sammy has no pain and doesn't require any medical intervention. This evaluation seems true when you watch Sammy play, run and have so much fun. Sammy is being fostered in a great Denver home and we're currently searching for a great match for this awesome guy. If interested in this very loving, sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Rescue Me ID: 16-11-20-00376Cassie (female)

Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cassie is just as gentle as she is beautiful! She is a quiet little girl who is quite shy, and while it does take a bit of time for her to come out of her shell, she is exceptionally sweet once she gets to know you. She expresses no aggression at all and gets along perfectly with other dogs. Cassie hasn't always had a smooth journey in life, and because of this, she hasn't learned to fully trust the world yet. In order to truly thrive and become the best dog she can be, Cassie needs a pet parent who is patient and loving enough to see past her timidness and who will take the time to nurture her self-esteem. Just like a person, her ... (Read More)confidence will bloom from being around a strong support system that helps to build her up with positivity, dedication, and love. There are few things in life that are as rewarding as showing an animal-in-need that our big beautiful world isn't so scary after all. Some dogs need more time than others to learn this, but the feeling that comes after seeing the breakthrough happen and knowing you made a difference is like nothing else you can experience. Finding the right forever home is the key to helping Cassie flourish. She's a beauty with a heart of gold; she just needs to find a safe haven to call her own. Anyone would be lucky to have this sweetheart in their family, and if you'd like to reach out with questions about her or our adoption process, please call us at 720-278-1880, or email us at adopt@rescuedforlife.org (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Fox Terrier in Colorado
Fox Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Fox Terriers have been around for centuries and have been bred to produce a number of different types of dogs. Today, Fox Terrier generally refers to either a Smooth or Wire-haired variety, which are virtually identical with the exception of their coats. Fox Terriers are playful, affectionate, scrappy little dogs. Fox Terriers get along well with children and can typically be socialized to interact well with other dogs, although they have been known to pick fights with much larger canines. Fox Terriers may hunt non-canine pets, especially birds. This breed needs plenty of exercise and should be kept on a leash or in a fenced yard because of its tendency to chase and explore. Fox Terriers can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
