Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Whenever a sweet Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed are generally very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family.. making great companions and the ultimate lap dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Apple is just about 5 years old (such a great age - young enough to be fun, active and adventurous while being mature enough to understand her adult skills). Apple weighs 15 lbs..a perfect size for hiking and outdoor fun... and then Apple will ... (Read More)gently warm your lap and express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Apple's great Kansas foster mom sent the following report about sweet Apple: I was the lucky one that fostered Apple prior to her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a loving and sweet cuddle bug! Apple was gentle and sweet with my 2 kids..12 and 14. I have 3 personal dogs and Apple did great with them as well. She didn't play with them a ton because she would rather be with her humans... either curled up on our laps or cuddling on the couch after an active day. Apple is super, super sweet!! She slept in our bed and had no issues at all. She actually slept like a log all night!. I will cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Apple has inherited the superior intelligence of the Cairn Terrier along with the curiosity of the Fox Terrier...she is therefore very open for her family to teach her the wonders of her world. If Apple is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident dog who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Apple in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Apple will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute and scruffy Terrier mix. Apple would love hiking the trails of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy walking the mountains), window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Apple will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return . Apple has a really scruffy, non-shedding coat. With periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition, she will grow the beautiful hair of a healthy, well-cared for coat. Apple will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 4/18/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Fox Terrier in Colorado
Fox Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Fox Terriers have been around for centuries and have been bred to produce a number of different types of dogs. Today, Fox Terrier generally refers to either a Smooth or Wire-haired variety, which are virtually identical with the exception of their coats. Fox Terriers are playful, affectionate, scrappy little dogs. Fox Terriers get along well with children and can typically be socialized to interact well with other dogs, although they have been known to pick fights with much larger canines. Fox Terriers may hunt non-canine pets, especially birds. This breed needs plenty of exercise and should be kept on a leash or in a fenced yard because of its tendency to chase and explore. Fox Terriers can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
