Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're unwanted and at risk of euthanasia by their family. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Arri...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Arri's rescuer...after which this adorable baby was brought to transport on his way to safety in Boulder . It turns out that Arri, at only 7 weeks old and 3 lbs (expected to be approximately 10 - ... (Read More)12 lbs when full-grown) is very calm and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuer. Arri is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If he continues this regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Arri will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Arri is a gorgeous Cavalier/Toy Fox Terrier mix puppy (this was only a guess by the vet) with a shining, cottony-soft coat that speaks of good health. Arri's sweet and cuddly demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more snuggly and mellow than your average crazy puppy. If Arri is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted guy who respects his people as his leaders. A family that loves Arii like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this silly, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that he is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Arri will be overjoyed when his future holds walks along Colorado paths enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with dog-loving neighbors will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this adorable puppy. We'd love a family for Arri that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Arri can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere with the assurance that he'll be a loving and social guy. Arril will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our Denver vet is used. Arri will require a commitment to periodic grooming. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement would be great!) will keep this puppy's coat healthy and silky-soft. Arri will be arriving in Boulder on Saturday 9/9/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and devoted best friend (and amazing lap dog). An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-07-00256Joey (male)

Fox Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Joey the Fox Terrier/Corgi mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the silky and shining black coat with a whitest of white cottony chest. It is with grooming, care and great nutrition that Joey's coat will continue to blossom with good health. Everything is new to Joey...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, he is next to you on the couch or better yet, on a welcoming lap. He's so happy there because his human (and canine) relationships are so important to him. This ... (Read More)12 - 18 month old, 10 - 12 lb Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels likes he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Joey is working on mastering his house skills. Joey's foster mom has the following to say about this very sweet guy: Joey is doing great. He's still a young guy who just needs patience and love.. and he blossoms. I sit with him and we talk about what a wonderful pup he is and what a great future he has to look forward to...I'm not kidding that I think he understands! Just a tiny bit shy initially (but he should be after what he's been through)...and then the sweetest love! Joey is so kind and cuddly... belly rubs and treats also are a gift to this dog who has never had this kind of nurturing. Joey really enjoys (and even loves) my 2 dogs and they all have the greatest time playing in my yard. Joey is very respectful of them. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of his respect and gentle nature - when they tell him they have had enough play time, Joey backs off and keeps himself busy in a positive way. You would also expect a young Terrier mix to be a bit crazy with lots of energy..this isn't the case with Joey. He has exactly the right amount of energy. He's so responsive..if he jumps on me, I just have to say no and he responds. He also learns a general command in about 2 minutes..no kidding. It must be about the natural intelligence (and inherent great personalities) of these Terrier-type dogs. I actually think Joey is somewhat calm for a young guy. He loves to play (once comfortable), run and beginnings of fetch...but then loves to cuddle equally. His temperament is really developing! I just have to walk into the room and glance at him...it's head to toe waggy tail and huge smile. He is such a sweet pup - anyone who welcomes Joey into their home is truly getting a gem of a dog! Joey's SUMMARY - Joey is such a people dog. He enjoys quiet kids of all ages (no tail-pulling please) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Joey with active retirees or a family with a bit older kids who want a beautiful and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his family. Being a Terrier mix, Joey loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please..he would excel. Joey would also be overjoyed to walk or hike along Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. His nature, while it can be initially a bit shy, quickly becomes very joyful and his silly and fun nature takes over. This guy's a gift of love for a kind and committed family! We've requested that Joey be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. In fulfilling our commitment to zero population growth, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for spaying and a microchip for Joey if our Denver vet is used. Joey will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/9/17. If interested in this fun-loving, sweet and very devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet and beautiful Chai couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Chai is a 9 - 12 month old Fox Terrier/Rat Terrier mix that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. These smooth haired Terriers have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their excellent, very loving temperaments, loyalty, cottony-soft, low-maintenance coats and easygoing personalities. Farfel's rescues almost all of these small Terriers that are in need of our help with the confidence they will be loyal and loving family members. Chai has all these wonderful traits and is ... (Read More)described by her New Mexico mom as PERFECT! Chai has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound%BD'%BD|never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all%BD'%BD|Chai doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Chai is so young, she's somewhat of a blank slate%BD'%BD|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Chai and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Chai be a companion that is well-behaved (she's pretty close right now!) in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Chai tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Chai gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and soft touches. Chai loves to come along (and is very portable at 10 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a walk on a Colorado path or just socializing%BD'%BD|Chai would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance enough to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Chai as an only-dog or with a gentle, like-sized companion. She'd be ecstatic to get all the attention for the first time in her life..or would enjoy sharing with a great playmate. Chai wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone%BD'%BD|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Chai would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's always loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Chai appears to be a lightly shedding girl. With a commitment to periodic bathing/brushing and great nutrition, Chai will have a low-maintenance, cottony-soft and shining coat that will tend to be more shed-free. We've requested that Chai be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Chai's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Chai will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 9/9/17. If interested in this very sweet girl who is a very loving and loyal companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730. PIease Read Before Adopting a Fox Terrier in Colorado
Fox Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Fox Terriers have been around for centuries and have been bred to produce a number of different types of dogs. Today, Fox Terrier generally refers to either a Smooth or Wire-haired variety, which are virtually identical with the exception of their coats. Fox Terriers are playful, affectionate, scrappy little dogs. Fox Terriers get along well with children and can typically be socialized to interact well with other dogs, although they have been known to pick fights with much larger canines. Fox Terriers may hunt non-canine pets, especially birds. This breed needs plenty of exercise and should be kept on a leash or in a fenced yard because of its tendency to chase and explore. Fox Terriers can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.
